Silver for Gliniecki in Hull Box Cup

Ewan Gliniecki boxed on all three days at the Hull International Box Cup last weekend, but could not come away with a gold medal.

Gliniecki, representing Highland Boxing Academy, won the title on the only other occasion he fought at the tournament, back in 2017.

He fought English fighters on all three days, getting past William Spalding by unanimous decision in the quarter final.

The Alness teenager was then tasked with one of the tournament favourites, Yusuf Hussain, in the semi finals.

Hussain had 22 wins and four losses on his record going into the Hull Box Cup, marking him as a contender.

But once again Gliniecki was able to win by unanimous decision and progress to a gold medal fight against Henry Faizey.

Faizey proved to be a bridge too far for the Big Dog, as a points deduction in the third and final round gave the unanimous decision to the Halk Green man.
