Friends in high places provide 'lift' for Ross County away day fans
ROSS County "away days" are set to become a cheaper proposition for fans of the Staggies following a financial boost by one of the club's backers.
International crane specialist Weldex is giving Ross County fans a lift - by chipping in towards the cost of bus travel for away matches.
Weldex boss Dougie McGilvray has offered what the club has described as "a significant level of financial support" to help drive down the cost for fans wanting to support their team on their travels.
Ross County have lost the first three games of the season leaving the Staggies rooted at the bottom of the Premiership.
A fan-led away day drive towards the end of last season helped galvanise supporters and played a major part in generating a feelgood factor in the final few ties of the season.
The new scheme is part of the new Staggies Together initiative to strengthen the links between the club and its fans in the local community.
The club’s Director of Stakeholder Liaison, David O’Connor, said: “This is an extremely generous gesture of support from Weldex and I’d like to thank Dougie and the team there on behalf of everyone at the Club – particularly the fans of course!
"Having said that it is a benefit to the team to have loud and enthusiastic support from the stands whether they’re playing here in Dingwall or further afield.
"A large part of my role is to try and build on the links between fans and the club to make that happen – and it’s certainly a lot easier when you’re getting backing like this from our commercial supporters!”
Having already run a bus to the midweek match against Partick Thistle, the club says it will be looking to work in partnership with supporters clubs to arrange travel throughout the season.
Next up is the match against Dundee United this Saturday, August 23.
For this match seats are priced at £10 with the bus running from Tore with pick-ups also available at the stadium in Dingwall and in Inverness.
Seats can be booked through the club either in person at the stadium, by telephoning 01349 860860 or online 24 hours a day via the club’s official website.
