Fortrose golfer wins Inverness Four Day Open for first time
Lewis Reid claimed victory in the Inverness Four Day Open for the first time in his career.
The Fortrose and Rosemarkie golfer defeated Ross Naismith from Brora Golf Club 2/1 in the final at Inverness Golf Club on Thursday afternoon.
Reid (33) from Fortrose says winning the competition is up there with anything he has achieved in the sport as he battled through horrendous conditions.
He said: “It has been like winter golf all week as it has been blowy and rainy.
“But the course has been good.
“The front nine of the match was quite rusty stuff, but we both played some good stuff on the back nine.
“There were a few birdies from both of us and I got lucky at the right times so I was chuffed.
“On the winning hole, I thought that a four was going to be good enough when Ross ended up in the trees.
“It is up there with what I have done in the past. There were a lot of good players this week in a high standard of field.”
Reid hopes he can carry on his winning form when he plays in the Moray Five Day Championship which takes place in a few weeks time.
