The Maryburgh runner decided to enter the monthly Blast Running 10k last weekend at the Gypsy Brae Recreation Ground in Edinburgh, which turned out to be a successful choice.

He would comfortably win the race, and to put some extra shine on the performance he set a new personal best and club record over the distance for the Inverness Harriers.

Already under 30 minutes, Chalmers managed to shave another four seconds off the record, which now stands at 29 minutes and 51 seconds.
