Former Norwich City defender and Ross County loanee Jonathan Tomkinson reunites with ex-Staggies teammate at new club Cheltenham Town

Former Ross County loanee Jonathan Tomkinson has linked up with one of his former teammates in Dingwall by signing for Cheltenham Town.

The 23-year-old American defender spent the second half of last season on loan in the Highlands from Norwich City, making 13 appearances for the Staggies as the club tried in vain to avoid relegation from the Premiership.

However, before the Scottish campaign was over in Scotland, it was confirmed by Norwich that Tomkinson would be one of several players leaving Carrow Road in the summer when their contracts expired.

Tomkinson, who had also previously had loan spells with Stevenage and Bradford City in England’s League Two, had to be patient for his next move.

The season was well under way by the time he finally put pen-to-paper on a deal with a new club, signing for Cheltenham Town back in England’s fourth tier.

He made his debut for the club last weekend, playing all 90 minutes in a 1-1 draw with Gillingham.

Tomkinson has a familiar face alongside him at Whaddon Road, which also turned out to be the summer destination for full back George Harmon after his own Ross County exit in the summer.
