Falkirk squad that has won the Championship and promotion to Premiership features former Inverness Caledonian Thistle and Ross County players
Several former Ross County and Inverness Caledonian Thistle players celebrated helping Falkirk win the Championship and promotion to the Premiership tonight.
Falkirk claimed the Championship title with a 3-1 win over Hamilton Academical which has earned them the right to play in the top flight next season.
Three former Ross County players, one of which also played for Caley Thistle, along with a current player on loan from Ross County helped Falkirk to glory this season.
We take a look at the four players who previously played in the Highlands for both Caley Thistle and Ross County.
Ross MacIver
Ross MacIver came through the Ross County Academy and was part of the Ross County Under-20s team that won the 2016–17 SPFL Development League for the first time in the club's history.
In January 2017, MacIver was loaned out to Highland Football League Club Wick Academy until the end of the season.
In January 2018, along with teammate Russell Dingwall, he was loaned to Scottish League One team Forfar Athletic until the end of the season.
In October 2018, he was part of the Ross County team which beat Inverness Caledonian Thistle 3-2 to win the North of Scotland Cup.
He was released by Ross County in 2019 but signed for Premiership club Motherwell. He made his debut as a substitute on 26 December 2019, away to his former club Ross County, scoring Motherwell's equalising goal in a 2–1 win.
MacIver joined Greenock Morton on a season-long loan in September 2020, but was recalled by Motherwell in January 2021.
He was then loaned to Partick Thistle in March 2021. After being released by Partick Thistle, he signed for Alloa Athletic in 2022.
MacIver joined Falkirk on a two-year deal in May 2023.
After winning the League One title with Falkirk, MacIver signed a two-year contract extension with the club.
He was on the substitutes bench in the match with Hamilton Academical tonight when they clinched promotion to the Premiership.
Ross Munro
Born in Inverness but growing up in Nairn, Munro signed for Ross County at under-15 level.
In 2017 Munro signed a one month development loan with Highland League side Brora Rangers. In February 2017, it was announced that Munro had extended his loan until the end of the season.
In May 2018, Munro signed his first senior professional contract with Ross County. Munro made his debut for Ross County in the Scottish Challenge Cup against Heart of Midlothian Colts in August 2018 which County won 2-1.
In June 2019, Munro moved on loan to Scottish League One club Raith Rovers until January 2020.
Munro spent seven years with Ross County until leaving in 2024 when he signed for League of Ireland outfit Dundalk where he played 20 matches.
In December 2024, Munro agreed join Falkirk until the end of the season on a permanent deal. He has been substitute goalkeeper behind Nicky Hogarth.
Coll Donaldson
Defender who has played for both Inverness Caledonian Thistle and Ross County during his career.
Started his youth career at Livingston before going on to play for Queen’s Park Rangers in England and Dundee United before signing for Inverness Caledonian Thistle in 2017.
Spent three seasons at Inverness Caledonian Thistle after signing for the club in 2017 in the Championship.
He was part of the Challenge Cup winning team in 2018. He then signed for Ross County in 2020 for an undisclosed transfer fee.
He spent two years in Dingwall before signing for Dunfermline Athletic in 2022. He moved to Falkirk four months later and this season was appointed captain of the team.
Eamonn Brophy
Having coming through the Celtic youth system, Brophy went on to play for Hamilton Academical, Kilmarnock and St Mirren before going on loan to Ross County in January 2023 before moving permanently to Dingwall that summer.
However, after failing to gain a place in the starting line-up, he moved on loan to Falkirk in January.
