The 35-year-old confirmed he is hanging up his boots on social media this afternoon after an 18-year career in England, Malta and Scotland.

Tremarco started his senior career at Tranmere Rovers in 2003 before moving to Wrexham in 2008 and 12 months later signed for Macclesfield Town.

After spending the previous season on loan at Maltese club Floriana, he signed for Inverness Caledonian Thistle in 2013.

He spent seven years at the club where he was part of the team which won the Scottish Cup in 2015 and also helped the club to their best ever finish of third place in the Premiership.

He also scored the 89th minute winner in the 1-0 win over Dumbarton in the Challenge Cup final in 2018.

Tremarco was named captain of Inverness Caledonian Thistle in 2018 before signing for Ross County in 2020 where he also became head of youth at the club.

In a statement on his Twitter account, he wrote: "Well the time has come for me to hang up the boots.

"What's been an incredible 18 months with some of the best memories I could of wished for to some of the worst days a player can have but it's all part of the journey I guess.

"From winning the Scottish Cup in amazing fashion and scoring the winner in the Challenge Cup final will always be times I think of with pride."

He added: "As for what's next? I am excited to see where the next chapter takes me and hope it's as a fun ride as the last 18 years have been."
