Former Dingwall Academy physical education teacher Melanie Woods narrowly missed out on a medal at the Commonwealth Games.

The Scotland athlete finished in fourth place in the T53/54 1500m final at the Alexander Stadium in Birmingham on Thursday.

Woods crossed the line in a time of three minutes 56.52 seconds. She was three seconds behind race winner Madison de Rozario of Australia in 3:53.03. Angela Ballard of Australia was second in a time of 3.53.30 with Sammi Kinghorn of Scotland third in a time of 3:53.38.
