Ross County hope to complete the signing of Motherwell and ex-Caley Thistle striker Jordan White this week, manager John Hughes has confirmed.

The Staggies boss did not expect any movement before the clubs face each other tomorrow night, but was optimistic that the former Inverness forward would put pen-to-paper on a permanent deal until the end of the season before the weekend.

There will also be an option to extend the contract for a further year depending on whether County stay in the top flight.

Hughes believes the 28-year-old, who spent two years at Inverness before moving to Fir Park last summer, can bring a different element to the side that will help bring the best out of the strikers already in Dingwall.

“Motherwell are not going to let him come to us when he might go out and score the winner,” Hughes said.

“It will probably get done before the end of the week.

“Jordan is one we have identified, I have seen a lot of him and he has his attributes and his flaws, but I think his attributes would help bring Oli Shaw and Billy Mckay and other guys right into the game.

“Fingers crossed it goes our way.”

The last week of the transfer window has the potential to be a busy one at the Global Energy Stadium.

Josh Reid is expected to complete a move to Coventry imminently, although he will not be spending the rest of the season in the Highlands on loan.

Another goalkeeper is also on the agenda, with County expecting Blackburn Rovers stopper Joe Hilton to sign possibly as soon as today.

“I am hoping that one will get done soon,” Hughes added.

“I have done a lot of homework on him and he is ready to come out to be his own man and a number one.

“We are hoping that is the case and he pushes Ross Laidlaw hard, because competition for places is vital at any football club.”
