A five-star performance has secured Dingwall a place in the fifth round of this season’s under-18 Scottish Cup.

The triumphant Easter Ross side overcame Wishaw Wycombe Wanderers by five goals to two at the hosts’ Dalziel Park in Carfin, near Motherwell.

A Ryan Macnamara was the only goal of the first half, header on the end of a Lewis Campbell corner giving Dingwall the advantage.

Wishaw fired back with two goals in the second half to swing the game in their favour. But with twenty minutes left, Dingwall equalised through Fraser Ross.

The turnaround was completed when they took the lead thanks to a Fraser Coyne goal, before Lewis Campbell steered a corner home to make it 4-2.

The tie was put beyond all doubt late on when Seamus Henderson converted a penalty kick.

They now await the outcome of earlier rounds to determine whether they will welcome Brunswick, Formartine United or Condarrat to Dingwall.

The competition, the Scottish Youth FA’s most senior of the football season, involves teams from all over Scotland competing at the grassroots level, with 62 clubs represented.

Alness United and Balloan remain the only other Highland hopefuls in the competition - but both await new dates for their fourth round games due to postponements.

The Easter Ross outfit face a rescheduled trip to Ainslie Park in Edinburgh to play the Spartans on Saturday December 14, while Balloan are due to host Westdyke Community Club on Sunday, January 5.

A trip to meet Thorn Athletic awaits Balloan if they can get past Westdyke, while a trip to play Thorniewood United Blues is on the cards for Alness United if they advance.

In Highland League under-18 north league action this past weekend, Balloan ascended to the top of the table with a 4-1 win away to Inverness Athletic.

Goals from Bodhan Campbell (2), Lewis Gibson and an own goal from Owen Macdonald secured victory for the city side, in what was an otherwise close encounter.

The defending title holders made the most of title rivals Wick Academy being without a game due to Alness having a cup fixture originally scheduled.

Elsewhere, Clachnacuddin made short work of North West Skye with an 11-2 win at Portree High School, thanks, in part, to a four-goal glut for Shaun Clare.

In the other game of the day, Nairn County drew 1-1 at home to Keith, while Buckie Thistle bested Rothes by five goals to one at Speyside High School.
