Luke McCowan – the day’s star performer as he claimed three assists – doubled the tally before the half-hour mark.

From their, it seemed like County lost all composure.

Three further goals in a five-minute spell from Paulo Bernardo, Calum McGregor and Adam Idah put clear daylight between the sides going into half time.

Adding injury to insult was the fact that goalkeeper Ross Laidlaw was also forced off before the interval.

Although there were no further strikes in the second half, it was still a major setback for the Staggies – who now have the joint-worse defensive record in the Premiership this season.
