Ross County's hopes of European football next season are over as their defeat at Rangers confirmed they will finish in sixth place in the Premiership.

Dundee United's draw with Celtic and Motherwell's win against Hearts means Ross County can no longer catch either side as they will progress to the Europa Conference.

Goals in the first half from Joe Aribo and a James Tavernier penalty gave Rangers a comfortable half time lead at Ibrox.

Substitute Jordan White pulled one back for Ross County, but Fashion Sakala killed the game off seven minutes from time.

Amad Diallo scored with the last kick of the game to make it 4–1.

Ross County made four changes to the team that lost 1–0 to Motherwell in Dingwall.

Jack Burroughs, Jo Hungbo, Keith Watson, Dom Samuel all came in to the starting line up.

Connor Randall is out through injury with David Cancola, Regan Charles-Cook and Jordan White all benched.

Rangers made the brighter start to the match and came close early on when Joe Aribo set up John Lundstrum in the box and his shot from 10-yards out was saved by Ross Laidlaw.

But Rangers took the lead 13 minutes in when Borna Barisic's corner took a flick in the box and fell kindly to Scott Wright on the edge of the six-yard box to tap home.

Rangers doubled their advantage just before the half hour when they were awarded a penalty after Alex Iacovitti brought down James Tavernier.

Laidlaw guessed the right way, but was unable to reach Tavernier's powerful effort finding the bottom right corner of the net.

Rangers could have made it 3–0 just before half time if it wasn't for an outstanding tackle from Jack Baldwin to deny Aribo getting a shot off from close range.

Rangers started brightly in the second half and substitute Leon Balogun almost made it 3–0 when he saw his header hit the right post.

Ross County pulled one back midway through the second half, substitute Regan Charles-Cook sent in a pass for Jordan White and he fired a shot from 20 yards out into the top right corner leaving Allan MacGregor no chance.

But Sakala killed the game off seven minutes from time when he headed a Tavernier corner into the net at the near post.

Diallo made it 4–1 with the last kick of the game when he scored from close range after connecting with a Calvin Bassey cross.
