It was Gollan who would best them all to claim the title, though, finishing in a time of 47:53 to cross the finish line a full 23 seconds ahead of his nearest challenger.

Dark Peak Fell Runners’ Finlay Grant got the silver, also claiming the men’s under-23 title in the process, with Ambleside Athletics Club’s Oscar Subuh-Symonds rounding out the overall men’s podium.

The victory is a continuation of Gollan’s strong form into early 2025, as he won every single race in the North Cross Country League to be crowned champion there too.

Earlier this year he was also named as one of the recipients of the Athlete Travel Award Scheme, which helps ensure talented athletes living in rural and island communities have the same access to training, competition and developmental opportunities as athletes living on the mainland.
