Ross County face an injury worry as Coll Donaldson was forced off early in the first half in the 1-1 draw at St Mirren.

The defender’s game lasted just 23 minutes after he sustained an injury and had to be helped off the pitch at St Mirren Park.

Jon Obika’s 10th minute strike gave the Buddies the lead but Nathan Sheron’s own goal midway through the second half gave County a share of the points.

The hosts were forced to play the last 25 minutes with 10 men after Joe Shaughnessy was sent off for a dangerous tackle on Ross Stewart.

St Mirren opened the scoring after Kyle Mcallister burst into the Staggies half and his pass wasn't cleared by the County defence in the box as Obika pounced to fire a low drive past Ross Laidlaw from 12 yards.

Donaldson was then replaced by Keith Watson after he was unable to continue after picking up an injury.

Ross County came close to an equaliser in the 34th minute when Ross Stewart beat the Buddies’ defence in the air to cross but he saw the ball smack against the crossbar.

Staggies’ goalkeeper Laidlaw made sure the deficit remained at one at half time when he was alert to Junior Morais who broke free of the defence to block his shot from eight yards out.

Ross County almost equalised in spectacular fashion in the 48th minute as Regan Charles Cook's cross found Stewart whose header was bicycle kicked off the line by Richard Tait

St Mirren regained authority of the match and Obika and Morais both had great chances to take the lead but were unable to find the net.

But the hosts were reduced to 10-men midway through the second half when Shaughnessy was sent off for a dangerous tackle on Stewart.

Ross County made the man advantage count when Michael Gardyne’s shot took a deflection off Sheron in the six yard box and flew into the net for the equaliser which earned them a point.
