Dingwall Academy pupils win schools championship at Strathpuffer as they cycle through ice and snow for 24 hours at Contin Forest





Dingwall Academy pupils powered through the snow and ice to claim victory at the Schools Championship at Strathpuffer 2025.

The team of eight pupils battled temperatures as low as -12 as they completed 23 laps of the 12.5km course at Contin Forest in a time of 24 hours 46 minutes and 26 seconds.

Gordonstoun School came second with 18 laps in a time of 24:48:11 with Glenalmond College in third place with 15 laps in a time of 23:32:38.

Cyclists began the challenge at 10am on Saturday and attempted to cycle as many laps of the 12.5km course at Contin Forest within 24 hours before finishing at 10am on Sunday.

In the men’s race, Inverness cyclist Kyle Beattie won the title for the second time in his career.

The 29-year-old pedalled 23 laps through snow and ice to take the crown in a time of 23 hours, 55 minutes and 37 seconds.

He was three laps ahead of his nearest rival Colin Ritchie who finished in second place with 20 laps in a time of 23:58:25.

Niall Shannon claimed third place with 18 laps in a time of 23:21:40.

In the Women’s competition, Kerry MacPhee from South Uist claimed the title for the first time in her career with 17 laps in a time 23:31:55

Gail Brown was second with 15 laps in a time of 23:52:15 with Emily Greaves third with 14 laps in a time of 23:12:04.

MacPhee received the Gillian Stewart Memorial Award which was presented for the first time in memory of the 2014 champion who passed away last summer.
