CROMARTY Arms retained the Dingwall and District Pool League title after defeating near-neighbours Royal Hotel, Cromarty 6-4 in the final match of the season.

It was the Black Isle side’s fourth trophy win this season and their third championship triumph in the last four years.

A 6-4 victory over Dingwall 147 C in a rearranged fixture last Wednesday followed by a similar scoreline against Royal Hotel five days later made sure the Arms kept a firm grip of the trophy.

Andrew Munro potted the championship winning black in the penultimate frame as the Arms out-potted the Royal.

Ord Arms Hotel and Ross-shire Club B finished joint runners-up after they drew 5-5 – Graham MacIntosh rescued a point for the Ord Arms when he sank the final black.

Long-time leaders Oscars Bar A had to settle for fourth place after losing three of their last five fixtures. In a 7-3 win over Ross-shire Club A Ian MacManus potted the match winner.

National Hotel finally broke their duck with a 6-4 win over Dingwall 147 A. Kelso MacRae cleared up to secure the National’s first win of the season.

Balconie Inn ended the season with back-to-back wins when they defeated Dingwall 147 C 6-4. Tony Reid sank the winner for the Evanton side.

In the other match, Dingwall 147 B and Oscars Bar B settled for a point apiece in a 5-5 draw. Neil Bentley (147 B) slotted away the final back to earn his side a point.
