New Ross County defender Coll Donaldson believes he is a better player than the last time he played in the Premiership.

It has been three-and-a- half years since the 24-year-old last featured in the top flight, as part of the Dundee United squad that suffered relegation in 2016.

He then fell out of favour at Tannadice, but a move to Inverness in the summer of 2017 reinvigorated his career.

Donaldson became a mainstay in the Caley Thistle side, making 103 appearances in all competitions, and he thinks that having that experience under his belt means he is better prepared for his second crack at the Premiership.

But he does want to keep improving, and he thinks County co-managers Stuart Kettlewell and Steven Ferguson are the perfect pair to help him do just that.

“I feel, mentally more than anything, like I’ve matured a lot in the last two-and-a- half years,” Donaldson explained.

“I’m still really young, I’m only 24. Both of the managers have come from a development background working with the youth team.

“Now they work with the first team in a management role, but they’ve still kept that development role in terms of working with players and improving players.

“I need that at this stage of my career, so that was a massive plus point for me to sign.”
