Return for top Ross Sutherland Exiles unlikely according to club captain Johnston

Ross Sutherland club captain Jamie Johnston is not holding his breath over the possibility of former players returning to the Stags after the annual memorial game saw the current side win 44–20 against an Exiles XV.

Some of those ex-Stags now ply their trade in National One and National Two, while others have simply hung up their boots.

While providing good experience for the younger players in the squad to go up against, there is always the hope that some can be convinced to return to Invergordon on a more regular basis.

“We always ask, every year we ask,” Johnston explained.

“Hopefully we’ll get a few of the students moving back to the area.

“There’s one down in Swansea and he put in an absolutely cracking performance. It will be good in six months times, when he’s finished his studies, to bring him back into the team for next season.

“We ask the question every year, but it’s always hit and miss."
