Rangers called for an independent inquiry to be carried out into the SPFL ballot which saw the season end early for the Championship, League One and League Two.

It has been confirmed 13 clubs voted for the independent inquiry, 27 voted against, while two clubs abstained from voting at today's EGM.

In the Premiership, where nine clubs would have been required to vote in favour, a total of four clubs (33%) supported the resolution, with eight clubs (67%) opposing it.

In the Championship, where eight clubs would have been required to vote in favour, a total of one club (10%) supported the resolution, with nine clubs (90%) opposing it.

In Leagues One and Two, where 15 clubs would have been required to vote in favour, a total of eight clubs (40%) supported the resolution, with ten clubs (50%) opposing it and two clubs (10%) abstaining.

Caley Thistle confirmed on Sunday they would be supporting the independent inquiry into the management of the SPFL ballot saying questions had to be answered.

It is not yet known how Ross County voted.

The controversial ballot last month saw Dundee’s original no vote go missing before the Dens club outfit changed their minds and said yes, proving to be the decisive vote to end the season for the lower three divisions.

The resolution to end the season for the lower three leagues was backed by 81 per cent of the 42 SPFL clubs, including Ross County, who said the decision would give clubs certainty by allowing prize money to be freed up.

But Caley Thistle voted against the season ending proposal, saying it would bring financial hardship to clubs that were relegated.

Partick Thistle have been relegated to League One and Stranraer to League Two, with Hearts also facing relegation if the Premiership season is ended too.
