Clachnacuddin sign Ross on emergency loan deal
CLACHNACUDDIN have signed Logan Ross on an emergency loan deal from Ross County and could start against Nairn County in the Highland League clash at Station Park on Saturday.
The 20-year-old also played in Clachnacuddin’s sensational 2-1 victory over Brora Rangers on Wednesday night with regular number one Joe Malin unavailable.
The emergency loan deal lasts one week and Ross is expected to start against Nairn County on Saturday.
Michael Miele played in goal in Clachnacuddin’s 5-1 victory against Lossiemouth last Saturday, but he was on the substitute’s bench on Wednesday night in Brora.
Gethins says he felt bringing in Ross on an emergency loan deal was in the best interests of the team and says he is likely to start on Saturday.
Gethins said: "Logan is superb, so composed with his kicking, talking and handling. We really needed it.
"Michael played on Saturday. I spoke to him on Monday and said we'd be bringing Logan in. Michael accepted and understood that.
"It's the best decision for the team.
"Logan will be with us as we've only got him for a week's loan.
"It's good to have him - he's a huge asset. “
Clachnacuddin have moved up to third place in the Highland League after a sensational 2-1 win over Brora Rangers on Wednesday night.
Craig Mackenzie gave Brora the lead after eight minutes, but Clach fought back in the second half through Troy Cooper and James Anderson to take all three points.
Gethins says the results shows how far Clachnacuddin have come this season.
He said: "I don't think I'm being disrespectful to Brora when I say I don't think they put us under a huge amount of pressure. We limited their chances.
"They show us every week in training they are good players, so it's about them now believing in themselves. That performance showed that.”
Clachnacuddin have moved up to third place in the Highland League and despite surpassing his own expectations so far, Gethins says his team are showing the quality they have.
"I'm surprised yet not surprised.
"We finished second bottom last year and we struggled under conditions like on Wednesday, like being 1-0 down early on at Brora, we'd have crumbled and lost 6-0.
"This time, the boys rolled their sleeves up and got the win.
"We're coming up to the turn of the year, and we're third. Who would have thought that? I certainly didn't, nor would the fans nor the board or players, but here we are.”
