Ross County defender will be out of action for forseeable future as he requires operation to treat injury he picked up against Aberdeen
Ross County have confirmed defender Ryan Leak is set to be out for several weeks after it was revealed he has suffered a ruptured Achilles Tendon.
The 26-year-old sustained the injury during the Staggies’ 2-1 victory against Aberdeen at Pittodrie on Thursday, January 2.
The club have confirmed that Leak will undergo an operation this week, but have not given an estimated time of how long he will be out of action.
The news comes after it was also revealed on Saturday midfielder Aidan Denholm has left Ross County and has returned to his parent club Heart of Midlothian to receive treatment for his injury.
The midfielder has seen his time cut short in Dingwall, as he has been recalled to Tynecastle to undergo rehabilitation following his injury during the 3-0 win against Dundee on Boxing Day.
Despite the injury blows, Ross County have picked up 10 points in their last four matches and also won three consecutive away games in the Premiership for the first time.
It included the 1-0 victory at Kilmarnock on Sunday which moved the team up to ninth place.
Manager Don Cowie praised his team for what they have achieved in their last four matches.
He said: “The boys have created history in winning three consecutive away games in the league. To respond the way that they have done when a lot has been made of our away form.
“We recognised that, we had to come together as a group, the staff and the players had to improve it and we didn’t hide from it.
“We have been outstanding in the last three away games and to come away with nine points is outstanding.”
