Black Rock Rovers crowned champions in first season back

Black Rock Rovers were crowned IDAFA Division Two champions after a 1-1 draw with title rivals Charlestelona at Culloden.

The result meant Rocks could not be caught at the top of the table with Charlestelona guaranteed the runners-up berth.

Both goals were scored in the opening quarter of the match.

Danny MacKenzie gave Charlestelona the lead in the 10th minute with a superbly struck shot from distance which flew into the top corner of the net.

Rocks levelled after 22 minutes when Ryan Patterson found the bottom corner with a powerful free kick.

Rocks’ manager Robert MacCormack said: “Overall I think we’ve been the best team in the league.

"The boys have been excellent all summer. I’m absolutely delighted for every single player.”
