THE Ross Province 2015/2016 curling league for the Alan Moore Trophy got under way at the Inverness Ice Centre last Monday night with league title holders from Belmaduthy beginning their season in the same manner as before with a solid win.

Iain Fraser, with sons Jamie and John and Mike Paul at lead, began with a season’s opening three shots and then a double against Coreen MacRae (Alness).

Alness fell further behind with the loss two shots in each of the 4th and 5th ends and they only matched the champions with an exchange of doubles over the final two ends as they went under 3-11.

In the absence of regular skip, Charlie Munro, Alistair Macintyre was in charge of the Caberfeidh fourth rink as he sped to an 8-2 win over club mate Ian McIntyre, but their was a shock for lasts season’s league runners up, Locheye Invergordon.

Peter Macintyre now leading the Belmaduthy Club’s second rink made a positive start of four opening shots against Locheye’s Richard Mackenzie who briefly got back into the game with a double but was unable to claw his way further into the game as his rink went under 9-5.

The promoted rink of Angus Christie shared the points with Invergordon’s Nigel Murray who salvaged the five shot peel with a closing end single.
