Will Nightingale’s Wimbledon testimonial will be last hurrah for defender as Dons confirm his release after two years on loan at Ross County
Another Ross County loanee has been confirmed to be leaving his parent club.
Following confirmation earlier today that Nohan Kenneh will be released by Hibernian when his contract expires this summer, a Staggies defender is in the same boat.
Will Nightingale has spent the last two seasons on loan in Dingwall from Wimbledon, where he had spent the entirety of his professional career.
Initially joining the Dons as an eight-year-old, he would progress through the club’s academy and make his senior debut in January 2015, going on to make over 200 appearances for the club across all competitions.
In the summer of 2023, though, he would change scenery with a loan move to Ross County, where in an injury-hit couple of seasons he has made 33 appearances.
Now, with his loan coming to an end, it has also been confirmed by Wimbledon that he will be leaving the club as one of nine players departing Plough Lane this summer.
Before he goes, though, Nightingale will get one final run-out in Wimbledon colours as two legends’ teams will face off on Sunday for his testimonial.
A host of former players, including ex-Inverness Caledonian Thistle striker George Oakley, will be returning to the stadium for the occasion.
