ALNESS United have been told tomorrow’s match against Scourie in North Caledonian League Division Two will go ahead after opposition players were forced to self isolate seven days ago.

Last week’s encounter at Dalmore Park, which would have been Alness’s first game in the town in years, was postponed due to players from the Scourie squad being forced to self isolate.

Alness manager Robert MacCormack says he has received confirmation that their trip to Achlochan Park will go ahead as Scourie have enough players to fulfil the fixture.

“We were expecting this weekend’s match would be called off due to what happened last week,” he said.

“But I have been told everything is OK for Saturday and we are looking forward to heading up and playing against Scourie.

“The league says the game can happen, which is what everyone wants to happen.”

MacCormack says they accepted the decision last week believing it was inevitable it would happen to at least one fixture.

“We were told on Friday afternoon the match was off.

“It wasn’t ideal for it to be called off.

“But it is the world that we’re living in just now.

“It was always going to happen and it was just our luck it happened to one of our games.”

Alness have only played one game in Division Two this season, a 9–0 victory over Bonar Bridge.

They are four points behind leaders Loch Ness who have played two more matches.

Many tip Alness United to win Division Two this season, but MacCormack is refusing to get carried away with any favourites tag, saying they must focus on getting results.

“It is going to be a funny season,” he said.

“Inverness Athletic got a great result against Loch Ness and they have managed to strengthen their squad.

“We will just look after ourselves and hopefully we can carry on from the game against Bonar Bridge.”

MacCormack has a full squad for the trip to Scourie and is looking for a professional performance.

“Scourie is a trip into the unknown for us,” he said.

“They’ve more players available as its a home game for them and are not missing players through work.

“We are just going to go up there and treat it like any other game.

“First and foremost we are looking for a win, we won’t go up there saying we are going to score so many goals because you don’t know what will happen.”
