A mum has made a plea for her missing 15-year-old daughter, and her friend, to come home.

Diane Ramage (52) wants daughter Nicole Ramage to know she is not in trouble.

Nicole, known as Niki, and her friend, Katie Macphee (15) went missing yesterday morning, prompting a police search and an appeal.

Mrs Ramage, from the Kinmylies area of Inverness, said: "I just want Niki and Katie to come home. We are all beside ourselves with worry.

"She left in the early hours of the morning, I think about 3am, and she has taken a blue tent with her.

"I want her to know that she is not in trouble, but we want her back home, and safe, as soon as possible."

Mrs Ramage continued: "I am hoping they are just camping somewhere."

Police in Inverness are asking for help from the public to trace the girls, who they believe are together.

Katie, also known as Katie Syrjanen, was last seen in Cauldfield Road North at around 5.45am yesterday.

Katie is described as white, 5ft 5in, large build, with red/auburn long hair. She was last seen wearing a pink hoodie with Pretty Little Things written on the front in black writing and black Nike trainers.

Nicole is described as white, about 5ft 4ins, and slim build. She has strawberry blonde/ginger hair down to the middle of her back. She may be wearing a pink leather jacket, blue jeans and white trainers.

A police spokesman said: "We believe the girls may be together and could be camping out."

Anyone with information should call 101.
