Country Quines strike a chord with Dingwall and District Accordion and Fiddle Club
YOUNG guns seized the opportunity to shine in front of a large audience at the November meeting of Dingwall and District Accordion and Fiddle Club.
Paying their first visit to Dingwall, guest artistes The Country Quines enthralled the Legion Club audience from the get-go. The talented act from Keith were made up from sisters Cassie and Kirsty Findlay on fiddles and Rachel Low on accordion. They were joined by Bronagh Gillies on piano and chairman of the north-east club, Rory Smith, on drums.

From the beginning the audience was enthralled by their varied programme of marches, jigs, reels waltzes and sing a long sets all played with enthusiasm and energy.
Another of the north-east contingent, James Wiseman, gave a tune on accordion and sang a humorous song.
Another highlight was Monica MacLean and her pupils. Eleven-year-old Donald Barclay gave his first ever performance on his three-row accordion and received tremendous applause from the audience. Georgie MacLennan accompanied him on piano and her sister Berry played drums. Donald stepped down and Georgie took the lead with a great set of marches. Monica also accompanied Heather Lyon on fiddle. Heather is more confident every time she plays.
Other regular local players were Cammie MacLean on accordion, Christine Matheson on piano and Maggie Jamieson and Martin MacLean on drums.
The Quines returned for their second slot, playing many well-known tunes. They finished with a lively set of reels to much applause and appreciation from the audience.
