‘Incredible’ Kintail Mountain Rescue Team hailed by Dingwall mountain biker after weekend rescue
MOUNTAIN bikers caught out by the cold snap on the weekend set off an emergency beacon after getting into difficulties, triggering a call out for a mountain rescue team based in Ross-shire.
The Kintail Mountain Rescue Team shout on Saturday night coincided with a decided dip in temperature following an unseasonable long warm spell in November.
The team was called out at around 7.30pm on Saturday after the mountain bikers got into trouble with some wild weather on the Affric-Kintail Way.

A team was quickly deployed to Alltbeithe Youth Hostel where the pair were located and warmed up. A kind team member dropped them off at their home, safe and sound.
A spokesperson for the team wished them well and said they “did the right thing in calling for help”.
The team later posted: “As wintry weather is now in full swing please remember to carry appropriate equipment in your day sacks in case of emergency and make sure you’ve checked the weather forecast as conditions on the hills can rapidly change.
“We'd also like to remind everyone that Alltbeithe Youth Hostel is closed for the winter (a basic winter room is available).
“Kintail Mountain Rescue Team is made up entirely of volunteers. We are on call 365 days a year, 7 days a week, 24 hours a day to help anyone who’s in trouble in the mountains.”
Dingwall-based Henry Blake posted his thanks for the team’s efforts on their social media page. He wrote: “A huge thank you to Kintail Mountain Rescue.
“We cannot thank the incredible team enough for their help last night. When we found ourselves in trouble on the hill their kindness and expertise were beyond anything we could have hoped for, we are truly humbled.
“Thank you, Kintail Mountain Rescue—you’ll forever have our gratitude.”
The team relies on public donations to fund the work it does. It has shared a donation link for anyone who might wish to support it.
