TORRENTIAL rain is being forecast for parts of Ross-shire on Sunday – prompting a yellow weather warning from the Met Office.

The warning takes affect at 6pm on Sunday evening and is expected to remain in place until 6am on Tuesday.

It will apply to many parts of western Scotland, from Galloway in the south to Laxford Bridge in Sutherland in the north.

The area affected includes Wester Ross, Mid Ross, parts of Inverness-shire and Skye.

“A spell of heavy rain is expected across parts of western Scotland which may lead to some flooding and travel disruption,” said a spokesman for the Met Office.

“Where flooding occurs, there is a slight chance of delays or cancellations to train and bus services.

“Spray and flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures.

“There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded, causing damage to some buildings.”
