AN independent Bookshop in Wester Ross set the scene for local pupils to celebrate reading and books while dressing up.

Ullapool Bookshop opened its doors to local pupils from Ullapool Primary, who could walk in in their colourful costumes and pick up their World Book Day books.

Manager Katharine Douglas said it was a success

"Ullapool Bookshop has had a phenomenal World Book Day which has in fact lasted all week," she said.

"The children were so excited be in the bookshop in person," added Ms Douglas.

"They thoroughly enjoyed choosing their books and also being photographed in some of their wonderful costumes.

"We really hope that this encourages them to keep reading and who knows, perhaps to even create their own stories too. We may have welcomed a future J K Rowling to Ullapool Bookshop this week."
