THE success of Dingwall’s annual Highland Wool & Textile Festival is set to expand – with a similar event now being planned for Pitlochry.

Organisers Jenny Brogden and Anne Marie Foot, who also hold the event in Inverness, will be heading down the A9 to “the Gateway to the Highlands”, hoping to draw even more enthusiasts for the high quality products.

They have worked tirelessly to draw together a loyal group of exhibitors for their festivals and Jenny said they were always thrilled and amazed by the skills on display.

“We are so pleased this talent is recognised by the general public with attendance at both Dingwall and Inverness surpassing our expectations and showing just how popular the wool and textile market is here in the Highlands,” she commented.

The Pitlochry Festival will take place next year on Saturday, May 7, at the Atholl Palace Hotel, the day before the Caledonian Etape cycle event which, it is hoped, will bring a good volume of people to the town.

Said Anne Marie: “We are both convinced there is an opportunity to showcase the talented exhibitors and suppliers to a different market and one that is accessible to a larger mass of population.

“We are not turning our back on our established events, far from it, but the Pitlochry Festival should be a really exciting additional event and well worth the trip.”

Meanwhile, Dingwall Mart is again the venue for the town’s next festival on Saturday, May 21.

Jenny said: “While we are excited about Pitlochry, we could not ignore our loyal customers here and so we will once again be taking over the mart for an event which, we hope, will be bigger and better than ever before.”

As well as hosting a wide variety of wool and textile suppliers and producers, the fair will feature the Sustainable Living Room – an exhibition space dedicated to all aspects of environmental living.
