POLICE have today officially named the woman who died in a single-vehicle accident on the black Isle last week.

Mother-of-three Sharon Eccleson (37), died as a result of her injuries following the collision, which happened at around 11.30pm last Wednesday night on the B9169 at Dunvournie, near Culbokie.

Mrs Eccleson, who was from Muir of Ord, had been driving a Toyota Yaris at the time of the accident.

The road was closed for four-and-a-half hours as police, who later issued an appeal for any witnesses to come forward, carried out a full collision investigation.

In a statement issued today (Monday), the Highlands and Islands Division of Police Scotland said: "Mrs Eccleson's family have asked that their privacy be respected whilst they grieve at this most difficult time.

"A report regarding the collision will be submitted to the procurator fiscal."
