Dalmore Distillery is among those set to be hit by strike action on Monday.

The GMB union said members at distillery sites in Invergordon, Alness and Tamnavulin, in Speyside are to strike on Monday, with 11 more days of action in July before a two-week walkout in August.

Although a pay offer has been accepted by staff at the company’s bottling and distribution sites in Grangemouth, GMB members at the north sites have rejected it.

The union also accused Whyte and Mackay management of making “ill-considered and disrespectful comments” in terms of a suggestion that the strikes at Invergordon, Dalmore in Alness and Tamnavulin would have little impact on overall business.

A spokesperson for the whisky giant said: "Whyte and Mackay’s priority is to resolve this dispute.

“We continue to engage both our trade union partners to reach a sustainable resolution.

“We are pleased to have reached agreement with UNITE, however we are disappointed that this has not yet been possible with GMB.”

And they added: “We do not recognise the substance of the statement regarding the negotiations.

“Whyte and Mackay has acted in accordance with legal advice, and approached the negotiation in an open and transparent manner throughout.

“We will be making no further comment at this time."
