Make-Up creator hails Applecross Community Hall 'brilliant' venue after success of drag artist play
A REMOTE Wester Ross venue is being touted to would-be performers as a "brilliant" place to put on a show – by an artist touched by their experience there.
Andy Moseley, a playwright, author and tutor, took his show Make-up to Applecross Community Hall and left the peninsula positively glowing about the experience.
Make-Up tells the story of a drag artist 'Lady Christina' as she leaves the stage and returns to the green room after a performance.
It stars talented actor Moj Taylor who plays the character Lady Christina.
The show invites audience to "step off the stage, leave the glamour and the costumes behind, and get to know the person behind the make-up".
Moseley took to social media later to state: "If you get the chance to put a show on at Applecross Community Hall why wouldn't you take it? Such a brilliant time this weekend in such a splendid location with a wonderful audience, a great post show Q and A, fantastic food, wonderful accommodation and as for the views..."

He thanked hall committee chair Barbara Gillies "for being as enthusiastic about bringing the show to Applecross as we were to take it there", adding: "Great to be taking the show off the beaten track to such a lovely place and people."
Moj also ran some comedy skill workshops for all the children in Applecross on Sunday which were very much enjoyed.
Applecross Community Hall is a registered charity and a community and volunteer led not for profit organisation.
Hall committee members work and volunteer in a range of roles locally and have experience in fields ranging from managing a business, hospitality, education, maintenance/engineering and healthcare to community development.
The committee is supported by a group of local volunteers who help out at events and with specific projects.
As well as events, the hall hosts exercise classes, badminton and yoga.
Earlier this month the hall staged a peformance by traditional music artists Duncan Chisholm and Hamish Napier.
Gig-goers were further enticed with the prospect of a raffle prize win of a stunning image of the famous Bealach na Ba by Jack Marris of the Applecross Photographic Gallery.
A spokeswoman for the hall said: "The raffle was very popular and we thank all those who took part in support of the Applecross Community Hall. The print donated by the Applecross Photographic Gallery stayed in Applecross with some lovely locals.
"It was a wonderful evening with beautiful music, song and poetry. We'd like to give great thanks to Duncan Chisholm and Hamish Napier for including Applecross in their Highland tour."
