THE first intake of pupils at a Ross-shire school opened in 2012 marked the end of their primary education with a party to celebrate the milestone in their lives.

Ben Wyvis Primary was opened when former schools in Maryburgh and Conon were closed.

A total of 48 P7 pupils who have since risen through the ranks of the Conon Bridge-based primary will move up to Dingwall Academy after the summer holidays.

The excited youngsters bounced towards the holidays with a special party featuring inflatables, fun and ice cream.

Some later declared it "the best party ever", a visit from an ice cream van being the icing on the cake of a great day.

The party was supported by McLaughlin and Harvey Construction, the company who acquired the builders of the school, Barr Construction. John Logan from the company travelled up from Paisley to attend the party.

Morrison Construction also made a donation towards food and decorations and the Co-op in Conon Bridge chipped in with the proceeds of a raffle, which paid for the ice cream. Parental and community fundraising also helped out.

Parent Claire McNeilly said: "We are so grateful for the community support we received, which allowed us to give the kids a great send off to high school. They are a brilliant group of kids, who support each other so well, and we wish them every success and loads of happy times in their new adventure at Dingwall Academy."
