Dingwall & District Accordion & Fiddle Club season finale has toes tapping
The last meeting of the Dingwall & District Accordion & Fiddle Club season was well attended by a large, enthusiastic audience, welcomed to the Legion Club by compere, Ian Simpson.
Guests for the evening were the Martainn Skene Trio with Martainn leading on accordion, Colin Garvin on keyboard and Neil MacGregor on drums. The audience was treated to a full programme of Scottish music, all played professionally and in a variety of tempos.
Some of the local choristers sang along to the Gaelic Waltzes, creating a nice connection between audience and performers.

The club has an excellent attendance of local players. Playing accordions in the first half were young Georgie MacLennan and Donald Barclay, both pupils of Monica Maclean who played along with them on stage.
Heather Lyon gave two nice sets on her fiddle before accordionists Donnie MacSween and DB Macleod were welcomed to the stage. Both played toe-tapping sets and will hopefully return next season.
After the interval, Graham Wood and Bob Begg took to the stage and their selections were also enjoyed by the audience.
Final local players of the evening were the InverRoss Band with Donna Dingwall and Christine Matheson (accordions), Audrey MacDonald (fiddle), Allen Shepherd (keyboard) and Mike Chisholm (drums).
Maggie Jamieson (drums) was kept busy and giving keyboard accompaniment were Christine Matheson and Allen Shepherd.
A spokeswoman for the club said: “The committee sincerely thank all players and audience who turn out regularly to make our club the success it continues to be. We also thank the staff of the Legion for all their welcome support.”
The annual general meeting will be held on Wednesday, August 20 at 7.30pm in the Legion.
The first meeting of the 2025-2026 season is on September 3 when the Calum MacColl Trio are scheduled to perform.
