The Peffery Way project aims to provide a traffic-free link between Dingwall and Strathpeffer.
The Peffery Way project aims to provide a traffic-free link between Dingwall and Strathpeffer.

The group behind the Peffery Way is planning another maintenance session next Saturday, November 17 to get the path ready for winter with strimming, raking and pruning the top priorities.

Phase 2 of the 6km project centres on a 2.5km section and depends on successful grant applications coming together.

Peffery Way Association (PWA) chairman Ron Macauley said that in addition to help keeping the existing sections of the path in check, donations are needed to fund the work.

A number of funding applications have been submitted in a bid to pull in £150,000 of the estimated £200,000 needed for the next section, which will also require some boardwalk.

The road between Dingwall and Strathpeffer has some notoriously dangerous stretches for pedestrians and cyclists and hopes are high a safe link away from the road will encourage a well-used route for commuters and leisure users alike.
