What to expect from Highland Pride 2025 as organisers say annual LGBTQ+ event is part of a ‘wider vision towards equality of belonging for all’

Highland Pride returns to Inverness city centre on Saturday, June 7 for its fifth year, with organisers saying it is just part of a vision of equality for all.

Eden Court will be the main hub for activities throughout the day, but there are a range of offerings throughout the weekend.

Kicking off Pride weekend will be a “Pride is a protest” placard making workshop at Circus Artspace on the afternoon of Friday, June 7 between 2pm and 5pm.

Then, on Friday evening, Upstairs will host “Queerly Beloved”, a Pride burlesque comprising of an evening of music, laughter, and unapologetic celebration that raises a toast to love, identity, and community.

Pride itself on Saturday, June 7 begins with the march through Inverness city centre, starting at Falcon Square at 1pm and heading towards Eden Court.

Outside the theatre, LEAP Sports Scotland will be letting people try out sports, and there will be opportunities to meet Mikeysline in their mobile hive and explore a fire engine with the emergency services.

Inside Eden Court will be the Pride market, featuring local groups and businesses including Rasash, Perk Coffee and Doughnuts, Stepping Out, Highland Gift Shop and Highland Pride themselves.

Indoors there will also be a flash mob dance in the studio and a chance to create your own zine at the Zine Bothy.

From 2.30pm, the scheduled entertainment will begin, with speeches from Emma Roddick MSP, Cllr Sarah Fanet and Lady Carbisdale, and performances from Venus Guytrap, Dashh, and Sugar Browne.

From there the official Highland Pride event will come to an end, but for those who still want to celebrate Queer Folks Tales will be doing a show at Eden Court from 7.30pm, while Venus Guytrap will perform a second set at Gunsmiths Bar.

Highland Pride chairman Simon Allison commented: “Highland Pride SCIO is a charity with a purpose – to advance the wellbeing of the LGBTQ+ community in the Highlands. We have a vision for a Highlands where there is equality of belonging for all.

“We work towards this vision in many ways, and hosting Pride is just one of these, and we are on a mission to do more.

“We’ve been working on the events for Pride month for nine months now, and most of all, we want as many of the LGBTQ+ Highland community and our allies to have a fun day to remember. There is truly something in the programme for everyone.

“We believe that there will also be moments to reflect and acknowledge how far we have come since the first Pride March in Scotland in Edinburgh 30 years ago. Whilst there is still so much to do before everyone in our community can truly have and feel equality of belonging, we can only really get there by working together.

“My hope as chair of Highland Pride SCIO is that we find more allies, more ways to work together and bridge anything that divides us. That would be a great outcome for Pride 2025.”

There are more events celebrating Pride throughout the rest of June, with A Grand Steampunk Shenanigans taking place on Saturday, June 14; a Sound of Pride music event taking place on Saturday, June 21 – the same day the first ever Pride march in Caithness will take place – and a Voice of Pride literary event taking place on Saturday, June 28.
