SOME 419 confirmed cases of Covid-19 were recorded across the Highland Council area in the seven days up to January 12 - the most recent data has revealed.

This equates to a Covid-19 infection rate across the Highlands of 177.7 cases for every 100,000 residents. Scotland’s rate is 248.1.

The rate for the whole of Ross and Cromarty sat higher than both figures at 364.45 cases per 100,000 - with hot-spots in Easter Ross towns one of the main drivers behind that figure

Invergordon is currently the worst affected community, with 76 confirmed infections over the seven days to January 12 - an infection rate of 1721 per 100,000 people. Outbreaks in two of the town’s care homes are believed to be responsible for a number of those cases.

Neighbouring Alness is also badly hit, with 55 newly-confirmed infections over the same seven day window - an infection rate of 931.6.

But what's the most recent infection rate where you live, and how does that compare to the Highland-wide and Scottish figures? See the list below to see what the situation was like near you at the time of writing (Saturday morning).
