Wester Ross village without water supply after weekend of power outages

A Wester Ross community has been facing water supply issues for more than 12 hours.

Applecross has been without water since Sunday evening, with most homes in the area having no supply.

This comes after the community was also hit by a power cut due to Storm Amy, which saw no electricity for nearly 24 hours.

Other villages near to Applecross, including homes in Lochcarron, which have been without power since Friday night (September 3).

SSEN said power should be restored by 8pm this evening at the addresses.

Scottish Water said it is working quickly to restore the water supply issue.

A spokesperson for Scottish Water said: “We were made aware of an area in Applecross where a number of residents reported no water from approximately 6pm on Sunday, October 5.

“Our operatives are on scene and working to resolve the issue as soon as possible, bottled water is being delivered to the affected residents and tankers are on route to replenish the network.”
