A WESTER Ross medical practice is rolling out its Covid-19 vaccination programme this week.

Aultbea and Gairloch Medical Practice says it has received its first delivery of Astra Zeneca (Oxford) Covid19 vaccine and has sufficient doses to vaccinate all patients aged over 80 years in its area.

It says it may also be able to vaccinate some healthcare workers and patients aged over 75 years where supplies and overall uptake permits.

Practice manager Andrew Vickerstaff said patients in its over-80s cohort are being contacted with invitations to make an appointment for the first Covid vaccination clinic on Tuesday at: Gairloch Community Centre.

He said: "Nearly all of our clinical and staff team will be on site to help run the clinic. We are pleased to have the help of community volunteers to help meet and greet in the Community Centre car park. There will be a GP and staff member based in the surgery as usual to deal with any other medical issues that may arise on the day".

The next Covid vaccination clinic will be arranged when more vaccine is received.

He said: "Many thanks for the hard work of our local primary care team and all in the community who have helped us to prepare for delivery of the Covid vaccination in such a short time."
