A 57-year-old Wester Ross man who was caught by police a second time for speeding along the same stretch of road was banned from driving for four months.

Robert Brown of Kirkton Road, Lochcarron, appeared before Sheriff Sara Matheson and pleaded guilty to driving at 102mph in a 60mph zone at Achanalt on April 11 this year.

At Inverness Sheriff Court, he also admitted a previous conviction which defence solicitor John MacColl said involved "a similar situation."

Mr MacColl added: "He is used to travelling along that road. It is a long straight, traffic was light and weather conditions were good. It
is easy to allow your speed to creep up on that road."

Brown was also fined £290.
