THE brother of an Easter Ross man posted missing last month has explained why recent searches have focused around shorelines and beaches.

Thanking well-wishers for continued searches around coastlines, Shaun Banner's brother Alan said it is because his family has a "strong suspicion" that he is in the water.

This is because one of the shoes he was wearing washed ashore at Nigg Beach, he posted.

Shaun (34) was reported missing on Saturday, April 23 and last seen just after midnight that day near Invergordon railway station.

In a post shared on the dedicated Search for Shaun Facebook page, Alan said: "Thank you for your continued searches for Shaun.

"I have been trying to not keep posting the same thing everyday on the page but don’t want the searching and momentum to die down. Please keep Shaun on your minds when out and about.

"We have been focussing our searches mainly on the shorelines and beaches as we have a strong suspicion Shaun is in the water. One of the shoes Shaun was wearing washed ashore at Nigg Beach. This doesn’t mean he is definitely in the water but is the reason we have focused our searches on the shorelines and beaches.

"If you are out and about please let us know where you have been, keep up the momentum and keep safe.

Thank you. Please continue to share!"

An army of people have been posting where they have looked around local coastlines and sharing the information via the page.

Shaun is described as 5ft 7in with short brown hair, blue eyes and of slim build.

He was last seen wearing green and brown Crofter work trousers, a grey Rogue Attitude puffer-style jacket, blue RSE work top and grey, purple and blue Nike Air Max trainers.
