The people of Ross-shire got a life-saving gift yesterday when a long-awaited RNLI boat was delivered.

The Agnes A P Barr Invergordon lifeboat 'sailed' into the north town, a few months later than originally planned.

The delivery of the Shannon-class lifeboat was delayed due to covid restrictions.

The vessel has the registration number of 13-37.

An extended video shows the boat's journey north from Poole, where she completed stringent safety trials during the lockdown.

Once delivered at the lifeboat station, the crew at Invergordon took no time in getting her into the water.

A spokesperson for the RNLI said: "Yesterday after a few months of waiting, our volunteer crew sailed our brand-new Shannon class lifeboat into Invergordon for the very first time.

"Due to Covid-19 restrictions, sadly our lifeboat station remains closed to visitors and there will be no opportunity to see our lifeboat at this time.

"So, in the meantime, please enjoy this extended video of her 640-mile journey north to her new home here in Invergordon."
