Gavin and Stacey actress co-writer and actress Ruth Jones has posted an online video praising the RNLI team at Lochinver.

Ruth, who plays Nessa in the hit comedy series, has shown her support for crew as part of the charity's month-long Mayday campaign.

Ruth pays a special thanks to the volunteers at Lochinver – a station that means a lot to her. Ruth and her husband Peet have a business in the area and are well known by locals and the lifeboat crew in the village.

With conventional fundraising efforts on hold, the RNLI urge supporters to support the charity who remain on call across the UK and Ireland during the coronavirus pandemic.

The RNLI says: "This is a challenging time for us all. Life feels uncertain and unrecognisable, but some things remain the same. Like generations of lifesavers before them, RNLI crews are still on call 24/7, rescuing those in danger at sea.

But with every day that passes in lockdown, vital funds are running out. We urgently need your help. The coronavirus pandemic means that normal community fundraising can’t take place. That’s why our annual yellow-themed Mayday fundraiser looks a little different in 2020."
