A ROSS-SHIRE medical group has produced a video to provide flu jab patients a run through of what they can expect when they turn up for appointments.

It has been shared by the Dingwall Medical Group ahead of a major flu vaccination programme it has set up at Dingwall Academy.

The venue has been chosen to make social distancing easier and to allow staff to deal with a large number of people safely.

The video, which has been shared on its Facebook page , gives a patient's-eye view of the straightforward process from entering the building until leaving, all via a clearly signposted one-way system.

The group is reminding people to turn up at their appointment time – and not earlier – wearing something that makes access to the top of their arm easy, such as loose clothing.

It says it still has plenty of appointments left. It says staff have been working extremely hard to make sure all our patients can have their flu vaccine this year. It acknowledges that its phone line has been very busy and thanks people for their patience and cooperation.

The sessions are due to begin tomorrow and have been timed for the school holidays when the building is empty.

Patients are asked to enter through the main door at the front of the school. They will be met by health centre staff who will direct them to the registration desk.

The floor of the Academy has been clearly marked to make social distancing inside straightforward.

The staff hope to vaccinate between 3000 and 4000 patients in total with each appointment lasting just two minutes. That means they cannot deal with other health queries at the same time.

The appointment-only vaccination sessions can be booked by calling the health centre on 01349 863034.
