Sellers 'over the moon' after 'another fantastic day in Dingwall' at the mart

DINGWALL and Highland Marts today sold 12 prime cattle 888 prime sheep.

Prime heifers (10) averaged 245.2 (+4.8p) and sold to 254.0p per kg for a 535kg Limousin cross from Bridgend Farm, Dingwall, selling to Messrs Fraser Brothers, Butchers, Dingwall and £1,476.00 gross for a 600kg Limousin cross also from Bridgend Farm, Dingwall selling to Messrs John M Munro Ltd, Dingwall.

The mart also sold 888 prime sheep.

New season lambs (584) averaged 263.5p (+30.3p) and sold to 282.8p per kg for a pen of 43.5kg Texel crosses from Balliefurth Farm, Grantown on Spey and £134 gross for a pen of 52kg Texel crosses from Inveruglas Farm, Kingussie.

Feeding sheep (304) sold to £146 gross for Texel ewes from Kinnahaird Farm, Contin.

The verdict: “With a sharp increase on last week, lambs were selling at prices never seen before at this time of year. Vendors were ‘over the moon’ with their day’s trading. A lesser number of ewes forward still produced an average of £83.94. Another fantastic day in Dingwall.”
