A woman has died following a car accident on the Black Isle this morning.

The 63-year-old was driving a Skoda which was involved in a collision with another Skoda at around 11.40am on the B9160 near the junction with the A832.

Another woman and a man, who were in the other vehicle, sustained serious but not life-threatening injuries, according to police.

Police officers, firefighters, ambulance crew and a heli-med were despatched from Inverness to the scene.

Road policing Sergeant Alan Henderson said: "First and foremost, our thoughts are with all those affected by this tragic incident.

"An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision are ongoing and I urge anyone who either saw what happened, or saw either vehicle in the lead-up to the incident, to please get in touch as soon as possible. Dash-cam footage in particular would be extremely useful."

Anyone with information should contact Police on 101 quoting ref no 1682 of September 21.
