UPDATE: A9 reopens at Tomich in Highlands after two-vehicle collision

A ROSS-SHIRE stretch of the A9 has reopened after an earlier two-vehicle collision which resulted in it being closed for around six hours.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service earlier confirmed there had been two casualties following the accident on the A9 at Tomich around 3.30pm.

At 10pm tonight, Traffic Scotland - which monitors Scotland’s trunk roads - confirmed it had been reopened.

A police spokesperson said: "Around 3.40pm…police received a report of a two vehicle crash on the A9 near to Tomich, Invergordon.

"Police, SFRS and SAS attended the scene and two persons were treated by SAS.”

They confirmed the A9 had been closed at Tomich and at Barbaraville with diversions put in place.

Police added: "Enquiries are ongoing."
