Ullapool musician (16) wins development slot in National Youth Pipe Band of Scotland

A WESTER Ross teenager has earned a place in the National Youth Pipe Band of Scotland Development Band.

Hardie Crawford (16), a fifth-year pupil at Ullapool High School, was hailed after successfully passing his audition.

The youngster is currently receiving piping tuition in school via High Life Highland and is a prominent member of Ullapool & District Pipe Band.

The band posted: "This is a testament to the hard work and dedication Hardie has for his piping and the band, well done!"

Hardie said: "I’m really excited for this opportunity and hopefully it leads to great things."

He played Kirstie McCallman's Favourite (John Maclennan);J.F. Mackenzie of Garrynahine (WJ Ross); Kelsey’s Wee Reel (Iain Symington); Mrs Macleod of Raasay (Trad.) (Arr. Islay Pipe Band) and Kelsey’s Wee Reel Key Change (Arr. Kansas City St. Andrew’s Pipes and Drums).
